Venom Marvel Comics Symbiote

What happened to Carnage from Marvel Comics?
I haven’t collected comics for longtime and was thinking of starting back by getting back into the Venom and Carnage stories, but someone told me that Venom has changed and that Carnage was killed off.Was the symbiote killed too or just Carnages host and the alien is waiting for a new host?
Thank you for your help.
Is AntiVenom cool too?
Gangsta Pimp is essentially correct, but here are the details:
Eddie Brock got cancer. The Symbiote left him because of that and wound up with Mac Gargan (Scorpion) who is the current Venom. Mac works with the Thunderbolts.
Eddie kicked around for a while and wound up at a homeless shelter. (I’m not sure if he works there or lives there). SOme of Venom’s cell were still present in his system and somehow mixed with his cancer curing white blood cells and he became Anti-Venom.
Carnage was ripped in half by Sentry in New Avengers #1 (or #2) and left in orbit to die.
