was Silver Surfer ever defeated in the Marvel Comics?

if he was, how? and if he wasn’t, how did they get rid of him?
just curious because people tell me how infinitely strong he is cus of dat upcoming movie, fantastic four 2.

He has been beaten physically only by beings more cosmically powered than him such as Galactus, Thanos, or Galactus’ other heralds (however he usually finds a way to triumph in the end because he’s a hero). He’s also been outwitted or defeated emotionally by many characters, but thta doesn’t really count. Silver Surfer is pretty top tier as far as powers go.

And Wolverine, there is a way to answer this question without explaining the whole movie. There are aspects of the movie that aren’t in comics and some people are waiting to see for themselves without people giving it away.
