Comic Book Ratings: Can a teenager to buy a book recommended for mature readers, ala Marvel Max Series and such?

Yes, they are recommended classification for books. Most shops avoid Seling a MAX book for a small child, but even at the most, there are rules about what can be done, then I think most people are selling them at will to those under 18 years. The audience reading comics is a liberal-minded group for people, and discover that reading is something better than reading nothing, then you should be fine. However, if the book is actually a book for adults, not a cartoon intended for a mature audience, you will have a difficult time getting their hands on it. A story that features nudity is good for teenagers, but nudity which has a history is not (apparently).
