Marvel Comics Museum

It's a better idea to become a professor of art history or a freelance illustrator?
I draw since I was a kid, and study the art in my self since I was about 11 (read / look through the artists 'books, going to different art museums such as Mass Moca, ca' Pesaro in Venice the Art Institute of Chicago, Phila Museum of Art, MoMA, the Met, the Uffizi in Florence, Turin and other GAM). I graduated as a theater major and I'm 24. I think I have talent drawing, and my style is more like Henri Rousseau (naive art) who say Marvel Comics (never entered the super-hero stuff). It seems more stable, working as a freelance illustrator, but I realized that drawing is something I like to do more for fun. I like being with people and inform them, entertain them. That's why the idea of a professor of art history make sense to me. I only took two classes in art history in college, but got an A (in Introduction History of Art) and AB (19 and 20th Century Art). any advice or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
It takes a lot of training (PhD) for become a teacher (and his experience in theater could not qualify you to apply for a Masters / PhD in art history) and it is very difficult to achieve this work. There are many, many more people with doctorates who are no jobs for them, especially as teachers. Everyone wants that job.
