Marvel Comics Direct Edition

2008 August 18

marvel comics direct edition
I have some Marvel Comics that say Direct Edition in the UPC box. Are they worth as much as newsstand comics?

Of course when I say “Are they worth as much?” I mean as much as the identical newsstand counter part.

Yes. There’s virtually no difference. If you check the inside cover, you’ll see all the pertinent information as it pertains to said comic.

Main things to look for is if it’s a first printing or second or third – usually it doesn’t say anything if it’s a first printing. Those, of course, are worth more than the second print runs, and the seconds are worth more than the 3rds, so on and so forth.

But again, no difference in the value, except when it comes to the quality of said comic – a near mint copy of, oh, say, Spiderman #50 would be worth more than a beat up, dogeared, coffeestained issue.
