Marvel Comics Atlas

Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel was created in 1940 to be Fawcett Comics version of the popular DC hero Superman. After being approached by a stranger while trying to sell their paper on a rainy night, Billy Baston followed the stranger, who turned out to be the wizard Shazam.
The assistant explained to young Billy he had been fighting against the evil of 3000 years and was getting tired. So he gave his powers to Billy. To activate their powers, Billy had to scream "Shazam!" and he would grow for several years and feet, and be granted the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the strength of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage Achilles and the speed of Mercury.
main rival of Captain Marvel was the evil Dr. Silvana. Known for being smarter than their counterparts supervillain contemporary Silvana soon discovered his identity hero (something that always escaped villains most others) and have a good time trying to hold Billy to say the magic word.
Silvana's daughter, Beauté, was the main love interest in comics. His power was that its beauty "affects all men who see it as a powerful drug." Not even the Big Red Cheese, "as he was called upon with contempt by Silvana, was immune to the charms of Beauté.
Shortly after gaining his powers, Billy discovered I had a long lost twin sister, Mary. Knowing Billy secret, the first thing that Mary wondered was if she could also have the powers of Shazam. Billy response was swift. "… You know … would not give his powers to a girl."
Billy was quickly retracted, however, because when Mary screamed "Shazam!" was granted the power to Selena, Hippolyta, Ariandne, Zepphyrus, Aurora, and Minerva. This growth trend continued after the family Freedy Freeman's friend Billy lost a fight with Captain Nazi and nearly froze to death. Take Freddy to the same lair where Billy has been granted its powers, Billy appealed to the wizard for help. In exchange, Freddy was given the ability to transform, where he said: "Shazam!"
It should be noted that neither Mary Freddy not experienced the same boom that Billy did during their transformations. Both remained relatively small.
During the 1940s, all the three family members Marvel had a successful publication, and Captain Marvel Comics sold more than any other comic book during the period. This drew the attention of DC Comics, which decided that Captain Marvel was a little too much like Superman, after all. Hit with a case of copyright infringement, Fawcett Comics stopped publishing Captain Marvel.
When Captain Marvel Comics began being published again in 1972, was under the DC logo. Back then, Marvel Comics had registered the name of Captain Marvel, DC so he was obliged to publish the magazine under the title Shazam!
Although the new Captain Marvel series lasted only soil 35 edits since then, the character and his family have appeared in several Marvel series min and promotions. Among them are The Power of Shazam!, The Trials of Shazam! and Shazam! A New Beginning. Also old villain, Captain Marvel joined Justice League and Captain Marvel Jr. joined the Outsiders. Captain Marvel, Black Adam, became a main character in the books of the Justice Society, and later the 52 most notable role. Mary Marvel in recent times has been a tragic end to the dark side as described in the story of the countdown.
Though initially started as a way to profit from the craze of buying Superman the character of Captain Marvel has become a beloved favorite in its own right. Both Captain Marvel and his supporting cast survived an important action and are now part Full landscape DC comic book.
