Ironman World Championships last month I had a pre-race meeting with one of my athletes, Luiz Topan. Louis went to the 4th place in their age group competitive M40-44.

Luiz had followed event – be it your first triathlon, or first Ironman World Championship – a lot of athletes just overdo it.

It's part of The nature of the type of a triathlete. Most can not your big race is a mistake. If you really want to accomplish on that particular day, you should be training hard "For months and months before – even years, depending on what your goals.

Make a training camp only six weeks will create a load that your body is not accustomed. And training for the Kona athletes tend to return to training also may compare their performance in previous weeks of training, on race day. For a specific group of athletes – especially those seeking a race of progress – is to accept that they can "bonk". If a athlete is willing to risk the relative certainty of a mean score for the chance of something they could not, however, they must walk a fine line. And they will often cross the line, not recovering and finishing the race much slower than it should have been able to, based on your fitness level.

The other reason for poor performance on race day is that athletes start the race drained of mental energy or physical. Race weeks anxiety will have a lot of energy from its competitors. Most start to fit the starting line, but very tired, and as a result they can not deliver the performance that would have been able to – if they had controlled nerves and kept their routines simple and effective.

So next time you look at the top list of a race, do not be afraid of so many make sure to control the controllable and stay in group performance!
