How can I train a newbie to the half-Ironman?

I'm working to get back to my level of pre-baby fitness, and since I'm not getting younger, I want to train for the half Ironman competition in my city that is a year away. Does anyone know if a year is enough time to build strength and resistance for a half Ironman? I also like to know what are some online resources good book or magazine to help a beginner start training soon, without much knowledge of terminology and methods of training triathalon. This is a goal on my list of things I'd like to do in my life, so any guidance or advice would be appreciated.

Half Ironman training can be completed within 4-6 months. There are training all the plans over the Internet. But I understand that you need for your check-out by Doc before. pre-existing conditions with heart disease or blood pressure can be dangerous for training resistance and race. Start running 20 minutes per day 3-4x per week, increasing the length of 10% per week. Once a week, running twice the distance at a rate of conversation. When the LSD (long slow distance) running is 13 miles, you're there. For swimming, get the book Total Immersion by Terry Laughlin. This is what we call LIMITER unless you come from a background of swimming. If there is something dangerous going really wrong, it happens in swimming. Start with 100 M x 10 swimming pool twice a week. Practical form, not speed or strength. Stop as often as necessary to catch his breath. The following week increase, 150m x 7, then, x8, x9 x10 after then. When you can swim practice 1500M, working to swim 500m without stopping. 1000M Then, after 1500. You must continue to train until you can comfortably cover 2000M non-stop as part of a year 3000. In Cycling – find a path / trail or paved areas with low traffic. Join group rides in your area and pick the brains of everyone about anything. Without getting too technical for all sports, get book "Going Long" by Joe Friel and rate of formation of the heart Total by Joe Friel, and a heart rate monitor. Six months to you find that bike can run 25 miles and six, try to get a few Olympic distance triathlon under his belt. The ultra-distance trip is not just about fitness and should not be taken lightly. You have to ask why you're really doing it. After you leave the bike 56 miles and your quads are cramps in the sun noon, you'll have to have very good personal reasons to move on. One last thing – keep your wallet. Simple is better. This can be very expensive sport if you buy into the hype. For example, a bike that is two pounds lighter, but five thousand dollars more expensive does not make any sense if you get 80 oz water bottles full of him.

Dear Cindy, Love Mom: Letters of Love, Loss and Life

Dear Cindy, Love Mom: Letters of Love, Loss and Life

$5.66

Early on the morning of April 23, 2007, my daughter Cindy left her Lower East Side Manhattan apartment and began her day with a bike ride on Riverside Drive. She was training for her first Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, NY in July. This would be a busy day with training for the 100-mile cycle portion of the race, a packed schedule of personal training clients, and a run in Central Park. But this was not to be a typical day. Midway through her ride, Cindy suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and died at the young age of 33. No one could have predicted her sudden death. Cindy was a dietician, a trainer of trainers, a consultant to Fitness Magazine and the embodiment of good health.Cindy’s death left me paralyzed with grief and certain that I would never experience another joyful moment in my life. After three weeks of unspeakable suffering, I sat before a grief counselor who suggested that I start a journal. I wrote to Cindy each day, trying to relieve my pain and to describe my dreams, my journey and my efforts to deal with, and ultimately accept, her untimely death. This book is the result, a compilation of some of those letters.
