How to set achievable goals to compete in triathlons

Challenging yourself

With no specific event for work or for a distance to win, you are unlikely to succeed in becoming a triathlete. To stay motivated, you need a goal that is a real date in the future. With a challenge comes the energy that keeps us positive and fulfilled. Here is your goal-setting home to begin with.

Start with SMART

To make the effective goal setting, follow a framework. The acronym SMART offers five criteria for defining your goal and ensure that you get the most from your training and competition. With this in mind, begin to refine their target. Write it down and recheck the criteria to make sure they are solid.

Specific

Dreaming that one Someday you'll do a triathlon is not motivating or likely to become a reality. Choose a special race on a date with a measurable distance swim, bike and run toward the train. Consider recovery time between events, duration of the season (six months) and in the early stage career-tri. If you've done triathlons before and are taking a refresher course or have completed their first season, look back at his best times race. This will give you a useful tool for what is attainable in the future.

Measured

Knowing what you have to complete is an indication that its resistance is able to lead you through the events separately. If you know you can complete the distance, consider competing against the stopwatch and other athletes. Seeing the progress measured brings motivation.

Attainable

Make sure your goal is attainable, taking its skills and experience into account. It is not realistic for a beginner to make a lronman resistance in a year, without physical and mental repercussions. Conversely, a Once converted trialist with 15 years of race can move up to Olympic distance after a handful of sprint events. You can move away from each season and still be an Ironman in four years.

Rewarding

Learn what your final reward will be to make your triathlon and consider rewards intermediate to keep your enthusiasm high and progress. Some people treat themselves to a chocolate bar over the weekend the most mileage, while others buy a piece of equipment when completing a race. This approach brings rewards, if the equipment is slowly upgraded, it can help you go faster and make you feel more comfortable on how you look.

Timely

You must have an exact date for your event (s). They do not happen when you are ready to compete, but require that you should be ready for the challenge in a special square on the calendar. Time can also cause the event or adjust the specific way in which you measure success. For example, with good progress, you can move the completion time to begin to define meta 'split' for each segment.
