I have one w / HDMI DVD is worth buying a Blu-Ray?
I have a 5 disc dvd player panasonic surround system that I use an HDMI cable to connect it to my LG plasma 720p, I sit about 5 feet or more away from my TV. I really want to buy when it comes Ironman on DVD and feel like I can also buy blu ray player because it is the next big thing. Do you think that Blu-ray player would be a greater difference than my HDMI DVD Player.
If your device display was a device for 1080p, my answer would be different, but once you'll have to configure the Blu-Ray down rez to 720p anyway, so You definitely lose some value there. But even if you had a native 1080p display device, here are some things to think … 1. Many people who saw a comparison of an image on the Blu-Ray-by-side with a standard definition DVD up-rezzed a high quality player (Oppo is the standard bearer) not feel the difference is significant. (Visible, yes, but it's certainly dramatic.) Not that Blu-Ray is inferior in any way – is that the _that_ original DVD format is good. 2. Consider your existing DVD library and your list of movies that have not yet. How many (standard definition) DVDs you could buy with $ 400 you spend on that Blu-Ray? Then, from there, for each BD disc to buy, you could buy two, sometimes three DVDs Blu-Ray is the new standard? Certainly. Will videophiles everywhere be replacing all the DVD you have with the Blu-Ray? Probably. Eventually. My advice would be to (A) expects prices fall, and (B) wait until you have native 1080p device (get a projector!) to watch them. All that said, some (if not most Blu-Ray), also contains a 480p version of the film on the same disk or in the same case. If you can live with the current price tag for BDs, start shopping now. So when it guarantees your collection, and prices fell STB, you could buy the set-top box.
