Fantastic 4 Story Book
How do I find a book, video, articles, anything that might help me build a porch?
I recently moved to a new home. I a very small front porch. I would like to do a project with my daughters and build a large balcony that can add a roof and maybe the screen in some time in road. For now though, I'd be happy if more than one person could get on the porch without someone falling down the steps! My ultimate goal is the approximate size of the balcony. 40 feet long and 8.10 meters wide. I accept my limitations and have plenty of back-up power (coined and practical man), but would like to add something with their hands as much as we can. So in my quest for a family project, I googled "how to build a porch" and "How build a porch "I've been looking for books, articles, videos, and I keep coming up with vague, incomplete instructions. When it came time to install the fan ceiling, I researched and has a fantastic video, now 2 of ceiling fans are installed four. I would love another success story with a lovely balcony!
You will need information about fundamentals, Georgia, may use floating support. Here in Minnesota it would be necessary to dig 42 "- 48" depending on climate zone. you need to check what you are building the city's official site for this information. most have brochures with illustrations. Then you'll need a book or two about making / carpentry available at most home improvement stores, and again some information. from site you're building official. If your planning to have any electrical you will need a book or two about electrical (basic and advanced) again available in most home improvement stores. You may want a book about home repair and / or coatings and toppings for the information. you need to build the roof and tie it into your existing home. I know it would be great to buy a book that has it all and you can find one that has a lot of what you need, but due to the infinite number of combinations of climates, the considerations of moisture, insect control, building styles, construction changes in the code, soil conditions, etc. you will not find all the answers in one place. Even if you find some generic plans you probably will have to make some changes to make it work situation as you. Even when you have projects to build a house that does not put every need framework, a lot is determined by the local carpenter / framer. There's more than nailing planks to form a shape, one must consider not only the loads and gravity. Snow is a big factor in MN. while (horizontal wind load) would be a big factor in the south.
