Airlines Prepare for January Peaks

It makes sense to think that the busiest time of year for airlines is during the summer and, for many, this period is definitely one of the most lucrative when it comes to tourists hoping to jet off in the sun.

However, winter is just as popular for many airlines, and many people actually choose this time of year to set off on holiday because flights can often be far cheaper than in the summer.

No matter what type of holiday people are after, it’s available year round. Sun worshippers can head to the southern hemisphere to catch a few rays and enjoy making the most of the festive season in fantastic bikini weather. On the other hand, winter fans can happily set off to a brilliant snowy destination to partake in winter sports like skiing, snowboarding and sledging – which is an excellent way to spend a few precious weeks away from home.

January is a good time to fly. This is because many people aren’t too keen on travelling to closer destinations like continental Europe or around the UK and Ireland because it’s simply leaving one icy destination for another. However, what could be more romantic than strolling through the streets of Paris or Berlin when they’re coated in a creamy layer of pristine snow?

Somehow, taking in the city when it’s freezing cold is far more exotic when it’s set in a far flung destination rather than in your own home, and the chance to see stunning views of rooftops and street scenes, as well as glorious countryside vistas – or there’s also amazing opportunities of warmer climes to be had in Mediterranean destinations where you can expect a welcoming break from the cold, dark winter at home and enjoy walking around during balmy days and even manage a drink or two outside in the evening.

Airlines need to prepare for winter because they can end up getting a lot of traffic on their flights. During the colder months, many companies tend to cut the prices on particular flights; which tempt customers to grab a cheap flight to a new location simply for the chance to get away without spending too much.

However, once they realise that winter holidays can offer the discerning tourist so much more, winter flights can rise in popularity, leading to a plethora of January peaks for companies like easyjet, Ryanair and other budget airlines.
