Great Games on the Cheap

Considering the current economic climate it is safe to say that most of us are feeling a bit of a pinch. Not is uncommon in times like these to start looking for the things that you consider luxuries and begin to cut their costs. habits of games, WoW Gold, Aion Kinah and consoles are likely to be very near the top of the list for the cutting block, but do not have to be not only the game you can on the cheap, you can have fun too.

Any game can on the cheap, there are literally dozens of poorly made, un-fun, free-to-play MMO's shallow and casual games available for download. Great game hardcore gaming on the cheap, especially now that's a bit of a trick, but let's see what we can do to get you started.

PC or Console? This is a debate that could easily cover an entire article on your own, but for reasons of brevity and my sanity us things short and just focus on the merits every financial choice.

Out of the gate this may seem a no-brainer, considering the fact that they vary between $ 250 and $ 300, you'd think consoles would be the way to. Not so fast, no hidden costs you need to think and be aware of when you get a console. If you're getting a Nintendo Wii, then you'll probably have to spend another $ 35 – $ 40 in a second controller to the console really sing, you will run games between $ 40 and $ 50 a pop, depending on how quickly you finish your games, and how often you want new ones that could get expensive, fast.

If you're thinking about getting one of the most sophisticated systems, such as a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, then things can get dramatically more expensive. To make the best of your experience you will want to have a high definition television, not exactly cheap. Also online, going to your Xbox 360 to play against others, cost $ 50 per year, you'll need an Xbox Live Gold account. All this without taking into account the payment for hard disk drives (for storing games and save the data), WiFi adapters, and the games themselves at $ 60 per title.

If you already have a console, the cheaper board game that can give would be to stick to titles available for download on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Nintendo's WiiWare service, there is a decent variety and more are available at a good price. However, if you're willing …

Consider the PC. If you're reading this, chances are you can probably play most games PC I recommend this article, yes, even if you only have an integrated graphics processor.

That said, if you're actually looking for upgrade on the cheap you should be able to get Nvidia GeForce 8800GT for less than $ 70 and an extra gigabyte of memory you should not run more than $ 20.

The GeForce 8800GT can no longer be top of the line Nvidia card, but it is arguably the best letter I've ever done and it is still relevant, it will handle new games same as Call of Duty: World at War, Crysis, Age of Conan and Aion next: Tower of Eternity from NCsoft with relative ease in resolutions conservative, just stick to 720p (1280×720 pixels) and you should be fine.

Enter the MMO. Instead of buying a new game every month on consoles for $ 60, because not just pay $ 15 and have access to a massive online game world? There are many MMO's out there competing for the dollar, but if you're tight for money and looking for the best bang for your buck, look no further than World of Warcraft.

Designed to run on almost anything, WoW is an infinitely scalable game that will offer you literally hundreds of hours of play time before you even consider buying one of the most recent expansions, The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, both reasonably priced at $ 20 and $ 30 respectively.

World of Warcraft is not only a great game, however, is one of the most popular games of all time, played by literally millions of people and widely considered as possible MMO cite the best you can buy. Your charming game world and rich lore you have hooked, and before you know it'll be questing, raiding, grouping ams stock, marking rare loot and raking in a fortune in gold WoW as the best of them! The game also has an active community with great forums and guilds for you socialize with, do not be surprised if you find yourself making fast online friends.

You can also rest rest in the knowledge that support WoW not going anywhere soon, new patches, fixes, gameplay content and expansions are announced with great regularity, the game is always changing and evolving and the latest expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, is scheduled for release in 2010.

Thus, World of Warcraft is great, but there are other MMO's worth a look any? Absolutely! As stated above, there are dozens of MMO's out there and many of them are actually very well done, and just about every one of our budget comes in $ 15 per month.

Although not as scalable as World of Warcraft The Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons, Dragons Online and Warhammer Online are all very friendly to low-spec'd PCs are well done, fun games. In addition, they will all work perfectly well up to or near maximum settings above the recommended Nvidia 8800GT card video.

For a change of pace you may want to look for Eve Online, is not for everyone, but you're a fan of games like Freelancer, Freespace and Wing Commander, and do not mind a dash of political intrigue, then this may be just what the doctor ordered.

But hey, if you do not like MMO's? And if you are not orcs, goblins, elves and magic? I mean, let's face it, MMOs not everyone cup of tea, even if they are the most efficient solution to our financial dilemma. So what are the options?

Steam: Steam is arguably the premiere digital delivery platform for games. Brought to you by the guys from Valve (Half Life fame) The steam is more than just a digital store front, is a fully featured service which also organizes the games you have, does the backup save data, maintains a list of friends for you and help you keep in touch with friends and rivals both via a built in instant messaging – I mentioned it is completely free to download and use? You will find their growing catalog of games includes a decent variety of genres and offers all of the World Warcraft up to obscure rarities like Zeno Clash and Space Giraffe, and all at competitive prices. Also, Steam is often sales of the weekend, when you will be able to find titles at up to 70% discount.

There are other digital platforms, such as Impulse and IGN's Direct2Drive, but are not as friendly and easy to use Valve's standard service. Impulse is still a little rough around the edges, it's just some years and his catalog is relatively small, but show promise. Direct2Drive, in contrast offers a much wider range of titles to choose from Impulse, but the service is burdened by a homepage, clumsy and insensitive software client-side heavy.

The latest digital delivery service let's look is different competition by offering a catalog composed almost entirely of PC classics of yesteryear. Good Old Games (GoG.. Com) offers a wide variety of some of the best games available in the past, games like Giants Citizen Kabuto, Unreal, Fallout 1 and 2, Sacrifice and Beneath a Steel Sky perk your interest, Gog and you'll love. All these titles and much more are available for between $ 6 and $ 10, all have been reworked to be compatible with Windows XP and Vista, and everyone is totally free of DRM.

So there you have it, if you have a PC you can about the game cheaper, simply to reduce travel McDonalds or simply to spend one day a week without drinking a coffee and you will be able to easily allow any of the options listed above.
