fantastic 4 length movie
How to compress movie files without compromising the quality much, keeping it in avi format?

I watched a full movie 90MB dhoom2 with more than just acceptable Print Quality .. So also, Fantastic Four in 267MB, .. but in this case, the ratio was changed .. The length / width ratio was reduced .. maybe 4:03 to 9:16. However, the print or the video quality was maintained or slightly reduced, if necessary! So how can I save the space required for movie files .. I want to keep it in avi format which is playable on our DVD player. Any amount of reduction would be appreciated .. Pl also talk about requiredn sfwr where I can get it.

You can not understand what compression is and what it does to you. ANY compression reduces the number of bits used to store the image. The bits of smaller, lower quality. The only reason you come to see a clear picture, it is because your eye is the limit factor. At some point, the compression degrades the image enough that the resolution of your eye can see the real difference and how the image is degraded. The lower compression the largest you can project an image, which is why the movies in a theater looking at what they do. Accordingly, any compression software will work for you reduce the space occupied and, consequently, also degrade the image the smaller you make the. Take your pick of any software you like and fits within your budget … YMMV …
