How can I make my cat for my new puppy?

I have a (roughly) four years old cat that I had a little over a year. She is a big cat, pretty social in general. I just got a boxer 5 months / lab puppy today that it is simply fantastic! The dog has lived in a house with other dogs and cats, so she is very nice to the cat. However, I do not think my cat is so happy with the dog being here. She hissed at the dog and is pretty much stay 10 feet away at all times. How can I get them to become friends? I love both my pets and I want them to coexist and exit. Any suggestions are welcome, especially people with experience in this type of situation. Thanks!
