Ps3 Consoles – 3 And 1/2 Actually

It may seem like a hefty purchase at first, but it’s features are balanced out well, as far as gaming and blu ray movies are concerned. For the most part, the blu ray movies look fantastic on HD screens. The game choices are somewhat slim, but there’s enough to keep you happy for a little while. It does NOT play PS2 games, DESPITE what the AMAZON.com summary may tell you.

Notice how I gave the game overall rating only 3 1/2 stars? It’s because for such a highly technical device, it has a low tolerance for error.

Ex: After my FIRST time playing a game, I turned the game off, turned the TV off and flipped the switch in the back to power the console completely off. Since I wasn’t used to “safe or best practices” regarding the handling of PS3 Consoles’s – (I had only owned the console for 3 days at the time) – I didn’t notice the notification on the screen that read: “Performing HDD Update, do not turn off device.” (a notification I later found, when I ‘Googled’ my issue.)

The TV was off, when it displayed the notification, so when I hit the switch in the back of the game, I wasn’t aware of the HUGE mistake that turned out to be. The next morning I tried to watch a movie on the PS3 Consoles and I received the following error message:
“The file subsystem is corrupt and will need to be restored”
Hit OK.

I must have gone through that error 12 times and it did not fix the problem. I had to mail the PS3 Consoles to a Sony Department and get it fixed, which they did at no cost to me.

So be careful and extra attentive at any notification the PS3 Consoles displays.

PS3 Consoles – Love It

I bought my PS3 Consoles shortly after it released in 2006. I’ve had it for 3 years and have put a LOT of hours on it since I got it. I knew at the time that buying an original release model meant a good chance of having problems with it. It locked up on me once or twice over the past 3 years, but nothing a push of the reset button wouldn’t fix. Sad news today though, I have experienced the yellow light of death. Many Xbox fanboys might point and laugh, but considering the fail rate of the release model 360′s, I say that this thing did pretty good. It had a decent run and has served me well over the past 3 years.

It survived well beyond its warranty and I got good use out of its many features, most of which the Xbox does not have.(i.e. blue ray, extra usb ports, rechargable controllers, camera card reader, and free online play and internet browsing) The death of the system is the only complaint I can come up with for it, so I am planning on buying a new one since they are only $299 now as apposed to $599 at release. It costs a little more than the 360, but with the extra features, you get what you pay for. When you consider buying an Xbox and a Blu-ray player, your going to spend $300 anyway.
