How to troubleshoot slow page load?

I'm using: IE 7.0.5730.13 Windows XP Home Edition SP3 MSI P35 Neo3 2x1GB Kingston Intel C2D 7200 RAM (667MHz) GeForce 9600 GT broadband division undertaken by a WRT54G Linksys router, but using cable (ie, wireless) and more recent firmware my pages are loading very slowly and often end up with 'Can not open error page. I exclude from ISP to another computer on the same network that's doing OK. I just to test my speed: -1 009 kbps Download (126.1 KB / sec transfer rate) Upload – 166 kbps (20.8 KB / sec transfer rate) (OK, not fantastic, but load 4-5 pages of attending do not need any more right?) Currently I only have one IE open with ~ 4-5 guides and MSN (no torrent or heavy games online) What are steps to resolve what is causing this problem? Thanks
