Questions about travel in Japan?

Heya, I'm in England, and I'm going to Japan (Tokyo specifically) this summer. I have some questions, and if anyone could answer any of them would be fantastic. 1. Youth hostels – there are codes of general curfews and restrictions stringent are they common? 2. I am very tall and half Chinese. Given the experiences I had in China, I wondered if it was likely that I would be worked around / People ran up to take a picture with me. As strange as it seems this is quite common when I go to China and is extremely annoying. 3. Drinking and smoking – I am 18 years old, English speaking an old looking – the purchase of such things is a problem? 4. Money – Does anyone know anything about the pound against the yen? worth some change money now? (In terms of decrease / increase of the exchange rate) Thank you …

2, I do not think it happens in Japan in March, smoking and drinking age is 20. Yes, it's a problem. 4, one can anticipate future exchange rate.
