How can I make my black hair more vibrant – will a purple dye actually work?

I’m in a jar of real big pickles. It’s my hair. I’ve been dying it permanent black for a year and have been steadily growing it out, whilst using semi-permanent to cover my blonde roots.
In the past, I have used highlighting kits, turning strands of black to red or purple, but the affects wear off after 2 or 3 weeks.

But, I’m bored of the colour. everyone knows me for my black hair – I really want a change, and a cheap change too. I’d love to just click my fingers and have my hair a more colourful colour, but that don’t work…

Anyway, I usually use L’Oreal Casting creme gloss and Iove L’Oreal products. I’ve read reviews on thier Feria range and I love the purple one, but, will it work?

I don’t want to bleach my hair and as the product claims to lighten hair up to 4 shades, surely there will be no problem – right?

So is there anyone who has done it? Please help me!! What shall I do? Any advice would be fantastic :)

i have naturally black hair. from my experience, nothing will make it any lighter or different except for bleach, so if you don’t want to use bleach i guess too bad, either you have to or you just keep it black.

i used to dye strips of my hair different colors of the rainbow, actually once i had a strand that was a rainbow. it was pretty bitchin’ actually, but too much work. anyway, i bleached it with (i think it’s loreal) Quick Blue. then i use Jerome Russell semi-permanent dye, i think they’re called Punky Colors or something.. they have a tone of shades. Those dye jobs usually lasted about a month to two months and I wash my hair daily.

hope i’ve helped you any. good luck with whatever you choose to do with your hair!
