The perception of Comic Books

Comic books have carried a negative stigma for so long as they existed. Viewed as a youth, economic or other lower forms of literature and art, comics had an uphill battle since day one. But with the success of comics, represented in Hollywood maybe, just maybe their perception will change.

The truth is, however, that the comic books in some circles always represent what is wrong with the world, like many other forms of entertainment games. Video and television were put under a similar attack by groups of parents, religious groups and intellectual elite they just do not understand its appeal and blame them for society's moral downslide. Music over the past decades have suffered the same kind of backlash.

The beautiful thing about comics, though, is what sets them apart from all other art forms. And that thing is the marriage of art and writing that meet in a symphony of unparalleled history. I love film and television industries have the hitch original stories, and graphic art, sometimes with live action, or moving images, cartoons are unique in the way of presenting a story.

For example, take art in comics. Any artist worth his salt can also illustrate a portrait or landscape scene, or what you have. Likewise, any abstract artist with some merit may illustrate a masterpiece still attractive odd and sensitivity. But it takes a special kind of skill to use those artistic skills and techniques to transform the words of a writer to tell sequential stories, representing the constant movement and a panel of a wide range of emotions after panel, page after page. Likewise, it is a task of a writer to structure their words in such a way that allows the art to make the description 'talking' and fill out the dialogue at appropriate locations and still keep a story interesting and fluid. And that's what comics are made.

Look for an artist like David Mack, who pushes the medium of comics to another level with the use of paints and materials to create abstract beauty, while maintaining the shape drawn. Or the many acclaimed books of novelists such as Orson Scott Card and Stephen King, for example, they did the transition to comics bring their talents and skills that form the mixed media art. But comics continue to be disregarded, or regarded as inferior in relation the other media.

This perception can not change, but if comics continue to thrive and grow, or eventually disappear, there will never be another art form that does well what comics are capable of doing.
