Coffee – Learn the history of coffee
Who does not like a cup of coffee in the morning? Very few people, maybe not, but I would to say a lot of people who are interested in the hot beverage and not only in the morning … But where did it originate? Coffee has a history?
Although difficult to verify the accuracy, the history of coffee, is the story of a shepherd who experienced the properties of coffee, paying attention to their sheep. His sheep became very active when they ate a certain type of berry off a plant. He tried himself, and felt the same effect. Rumor has it that a monk told him to be careful of the fruits of the devil. However, it is also rumored that the monks used the berry to keep away from sleeping and praying.
There is another story reveals an Arab acquaintance who was banished to the desert. He cooked and ate an unknown plant. Only with the plant, he was able to survive in the wilderness. Some people who live in village near the thought of survival was a spiritual sign. They called the plant Mocha, after the village community.
Few people realize the coffee plant grew initially only in Ethiopia. To eat while on raids, became involved in animal fat. He was transported to Arabia, he grew up, and took control of the market. The first drinking, were the Turks. They added cinnamon and clove for a sweeter flavor.
Coffee founds its way to Europe by Venetian traders trade. Rumors about the taste of coffee began to appear everywhere. Arabic is to keep a tighter control over even the coffee plants. Christian began claiming coffee was the drink of the devil, and the monk story above. Pope Vincent III decided to prove it. He really liked. After that conversation, the ban of the drink left.
Soon after, coffee houses were built throughout Europe. They became a popular place to go out and drink coffee. It was in 1700 that coffee traveled to America. A French infantry captain took a small plant with him. This plant was cultivated, resulting in over 19 million coffee trees within 50 years. Coffee was proclaimed the United States national drink in protest against taxes on tea extreme of Britain.
