A Brief History of Comics, Part One

Who looks for the number of films celebrated superhero at the box office could stake the claim comics never been greater, but a glimpse of the comic, however, reveals while comics have never soared to higher heights in the movie gross, this fantastic foundation has never been more unstable.

Comic books were an easy fit for 1930 in America. They were cheap and easy to produce, and even more easy to sell. With the great boom in the pulp of concerts, radio and comic books, comic books were the next logical step. It was the arrival of Superman and Batman in 1938, about a year later announced that not only the rise of superheroes, but the Golden Age of Comics.

The entry of the United States in World War II not stopped reading comics – if anything it has accelerated the process, with the heroes were throwing down with the likes of the Nazis and dictators, even before the bombs fell on Pearl Harbor. When the war began, comics are not just moral ribs – which were part of the war effort like any other industry. patriotic heroes like Captain America asked to purchase war bonds, and runs every branch of the stands and comics were dismantled for recycling to help troops abroad. Although such sacrifices played a role in the larger "Generation", which would have far-reaching ramifications on the comic book industry generations later – almost forty years later.

The 1950s dramatically altered the landscape of the superhero. noted psychiatrist Frederic Wertham published "Seduction of the Innocent," a book that defeated many of the ills of society in comic books. He claimed Batman and Robin were gay, and Wonder Woman was not only a lesbian, but also a threat to the woman's place in the American family. scathing criticism of comics Wertham caused sales to fall. Macabre and horror comics crime as Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror were maimed. The incident ended with an entire Comics Code Authority, which oversaw comic book content, and as a result comics for the next decade have been largely sanitized.
