name of extreme religious group in america?

I read in ‘Time’ magazine about a religious group here in america that has its own militia and boot camp. It is someones name and then army (ie. John’s army, Paul’s army etc). I have been assigned a report for school and this group really interested me. They rent places to do their sermons in big towns in places like Florida and California. They even have their own rank structure (general, captain, etc), but it is a church. They have their own website supposedly I just can’t remember the groups name. Please let me know if anyone has this info (or a better extreme religious group here in america) thanks.
