Although candidates will not be officially announced until February, to watch much news on the latest crop of Hollywood hits and will continue to generate buzz throughout the entire season awards:

An Education – The Sundance favorite early with a national release in theaters in October, is becoming the story of growing up a teenage girl in London in 1960 played for 24 years, Carey Mulligan (and shoe-in for a nod for Best Actress).

The Hurt Locker – High voltage and high-quality match in this thriller about an elite squad of Army bomb in Iraq.

Invictus – Sort brilliant casting in this epic that chronicles the efforts of Nelson Mandela to bring the Rugby World Cup 1995 in South Africa after the fall of apartheid. Starring Matt Damon as captain of South Africa rugby team and Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela.

Up – This year's Wall-E, a funny and moving tale animation about a man of 70 years and a boy of 8 years of age in a wild adventure in South America

Avatar – James Cameron's fantasy sci-fi blockbuster, people that brought you Titanic. Have you seen the trailer? That is all.

Up In The Air: Last week I looked at my vanguard for best picture this year, James Cameron's 3D Avatar hairy-fest. But we can not ignore other competitors this year, not least of which is Jason Reitman's Up in the decade of Air.Reitman 'third element has entered season in this year's prize with a good dose of positive buzz. However, I'm inclined to believe that this is an apology from the entire industry lap-dancer Diablo Cody winning an Oscar for a transcript of text messages called the script for Juno while driving Reitman is impressive, but it was ignored.
