Captain America – Part I
The impressively long history of comic book superhero Captain America began in December 1940, a year before the bombing of Pearl Harbor brought the U.S. into World War II. "As the ruthless war mongers in Europe focus their eyes in an America that loves peace .. the youth of our country to heed the call to arms for defense, "came the bold declaration on the first page of Captain America Comics. One of these young men was Steve Rogers, a skinny artist full of patriotic fever to join the armed forces, but he was very ill and unfit for participate.
Fortunately for Steve, the U.S. government was working on a super-soldier serum as one of its tools to fight the Nazis and their allies. "Little he realizes, "Professor Reinstein (or Erskine, as he is later renamed) reflected minutes after the injection of Steve with the super-soldier serum" that traverses the serum through your blood is rapidly building his body and brain tissue, until his stature and intelligence increase to a surprising degree! .. He is working! There is a power that flows through the muscles growing … millions of cells, forming an incredible speed! "
Ramblings enthusiastic teacher translate to say that Steve Rogers was really the first human specimen. He represented a human being in peak physical condition, in strength, intelligence, strength, senses, and speed. His power levels have fluctuated over the years, sometimes boasting the ability to run a mile in a minute but has traditionally had more in common with a fit that really Batman Superman.
Unfortunately for Professor Reinstein, did not live long enough to see the exploits amazing would inspire her serum. Reflecting a trend that would be present in many of Captain America Comics 1940, Nazi spies were on foot and in an effort to steal the Super-Soldier Serum to your own and stop the United States to produce more Captain America, Professor Reinstein was killed. But before he died, he named Steve Rogers, with its new name, explaining, "We'll call Captain America … because like you, America must gain strength and will to protect our coasts."
Like most superheroes, Captain America needed a secret identity of sorts. Shipped off to Camp Lehigh, Steve posed as the bumbling Rogers deprived and clueless when he was not wearing his trademark costume Costume Star-Spangled Banner and matching shield. While at Lehigh, Rogers found James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, a mascot of the camp. In the original story, Bucky took Steve change his Captain America Costume. This secretion status of partner Bucky, for "The From now on we have to share this secret so much together … it means you're my partner, Bucky! "
Of course, those were the days before innocent both Marvel and DC Comics began killing fellow right and left, and no explanation was needed for that Captain America would want a helper. In the years since, Marvel changed the history of the origin Bucky several times in an attempt to make the teenager fighting alongside Steve look more plausible. Bucky longer the mascot of the camp to be a trained agent, who commits murder secret that ordinary soldiers and Captain America could not do. The reasons for Steve, taking it as assistant Steve changed the idea of being Bucky blackmailing to take him in return for keeping Steve's secret identity is a secret. After Bucky became a trained agent of the military, was retconned that he was "given" to Captain America by the U.S. government.
Regardless of the exact reason or circumstances that Bucky Barnes was a part of the life of Captain America, Bucky and Cap together, soil or any part of the superhero team the Invaders, fought against the Nazi and Japanese threats. Two of his main enemies during this period included the Red Skull and Baron Zemo, both of which continue to reappear as villains in his career after CAP.
As WWII came to an end, sales of all comic plummeted. Even Captain America, which sold about 1,000,000 copies per month at its point high, began to suffer sales wise. After some drastic changes, as Bucky injury, giving the role of assistant to Cap's girlfriend Betsy Ross, and renewing Cap in a hunter of Communists, the Captain America comic was canceled in 1954.
But cancellation, like death, is of short duration in comics. Ten years later, Steve Rogers and Captain America were brought back in Avengers # 4. In this new version of continuity, it was revealed that Steve Rogers and Bucky was originally lost soon after the end of World War II (post-World War II appearances of Cap and Bucky would be explained as different and Caps Buckys entirely.) When you try to stop a plane scheduled by Baron Zemo, Bucky was apparently dead and Cap fell into the icy waters below, where he remained in a block of ice until the Avengers found him.
Steve's first thoughts were of his fallen comrade, and death of Bucky and guilt about it that Steve had continued to be one of two major themes in the tales of Captain America that followed.
The pain at the death of Bucky has not stopped Steve acquisition of new partners, of course. After becoming a member of the Avengers, Steve quickly came and leadership training for younger members, a sampling of who would come to include Hawkeye, Iron Man and the Young Avengers. Heavy emphasis was often placed in Cap-fighting skills and he was often given credit for being the best fighter from hand to hand in the Marvel universe.
Beyond of his adventures of the Avengers, Captain America became an active peacekeeping force planetary SHIELD and got two new sparring partners. The first, Rick Jones, still wearing a costume Bucky for a while. The second, Sam Wilson was written as Captain America's partner, and less like the sidekick Rick Jones that much and Bucky was.
