The Rise and Fall of the Modern Age Comics

The comics industry, like any artistic sector, or any industry for that matter, is cyclical. There are even times and there are times. There are times when sales are through the roof and there are times when sales can not break through the basement floor. Now comics are a medium-term place, unlike some years ago when things looked bleak. But before this period, there was an elevation that collapsed before our eyes.

I am of course referring to 1990, when all was right in the world of comics. This is the time I was really into comics and started see firsthand the rise and fall of the comics industry as it was.

In the '90s, comics took a turn for Books better, or so we thought. began to arrive, thanks widespread recognition in most comic book artists, as founders of Image Comics properties Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld and others. Comic were beginning to appear in cartoons and films, but had not been seen before, and worth collecting comics has become a phenomenon widely known. This comic book artists were working for Marvel Comics at the time, and was the launch of new buildings or revitalized the fans who were receiving newly excited about comics again. Relaunched X-Men and X-Force was born. Spider-Man exploded with a new title, and fans were eating everything.

Moreover, thanks to the dynamic style of comic book artists, exclusive prints and copper and other publicity seemed perfect ploy to make money and comics publishers at the time, and the general public somehow wind has it. Thus, the average person on the street was buying all the copies of all these special covers and special reports (Death of Superman anyone?) which caused the publishers to keep printing. Before you knew it all had multiple copies of everything, and nothing worth anything. Sales fell, the two creators left large speculators and market almost broke the comics industry.

Marvel Comics went bankrupt, many fans (like me) left comics behind for years, and the movies and cartoons, all but disappeared.

A few years later, Marvel restructured out of bankruptcy, and began making waves again. Spider-Man and the X-Men hit the big screen, and all of a sudden comics were on the map again. Not to mention the efforts of short Crossgen Comics, who brought a lot of people (again, myself included) back into comics. And with the success of these new ventures, the comic strip that began a steady climb back to a place of mediocrity.

Now, comics are still struggling, but with the success of current films and stories is a possible large increase could occur again. Providing editors and the speculators do not make the same mistakes twice, comic books could be quite awhile to come.
